Skurup Municipality is beautifully located in the heart of Skåne, just a short trip from Malmö and Copenhagen. Here you’ll discover sandy beaches, scenic countryside, and a wealth of sights and attractions. When in Europe, don‘t miss Skurup!

Two women and a toddler are walking towards the water front. They are in a meadow. In the distance, a couple of people are sitting on a bench with a table in front of it. It is summer.

Experience the scenic landscape

Enjoy rolling ridges, open fields, and views stretching all the way to the sea. Historic farms and medieval castles tell the story of Skåne’s rich cultural heritage.

Hörte harbour

Hörte harbour is a historically rich and scenic village. Once a seasonal fishing spot for local farmers, it evolved into a permanent fishing village in the 19th century. Visitors can enjoy vibrant birdlife, especially from the public birdwatching house. The nearby wetlands at Bingsmarken feature unique flora, including rare grasses and wildflowers.

Just east of the harbour lies the Hörte ruin, a romantic-era monument built in 1907. Further along the coast, you’ll find Hörte forest – Sweden’s southernmost deciduous forest.

When in Europe, don't miss Skurup

At the Skurup Information Centre, we sell T-shirts sporting the logo "When in Europe don’t miss Skurup". The slogan was invented in 1967 by Bengt Englund, who was a teacher at Skurups folkhögskola, the independent adult education college of Skurup. It is not our official municipal slogan, but we like to use it.

Did you know…

  • The slogan was first used by the local handball team Skurups Handboll.
  • We always give out free stickers at the Skurup Information Centre and at events.
  • At present, the biggest sign can be found at the Skurups Sparbank Arena.
