Schools and education

We want every child to have the best possible start in life. That’s why we provide a calm, stimulating learning environment where students feel acknowledged and encouraged. Achieving the national learning goals is a priority for us.

Preschools

In Skurup, you’ll find both municipal and independent preschools, and you are free to choose the one that suits your child best. We do our utmost to ensure you get the preschool you apply for.

Preschool is available for all children aged 1–5, based on parents’ work or study commitments, or the child’s own needs as defined by the Education Act. For children whose parents are on parental leave, preschool is offered for 15 hours per week during school terms.

Public preschool for children aged 3–5

All children aged three, four, and five are entitled to public preschool. This means they are offered 525 hours per year, free of charge, starting from the autumn term of the year they turn three. Participation is voluntary.

Schools

Our goal is to help students gain knowledge, skills, and confidence so that they are ready to take part in and contribute to a democratic society.

From the age of six, your child is welcome to attend one of our elementary schools. As a parent, you can choose which school your child will attend.

Skurup Municipality has seven municipal elementary and junior high schools, as well as a senior high school – Nils Holgerssongymnasiet.

You and your child are always welcome to visit!

Quality and goals

Skurup Municipality uses a common quality assessment system to measure the performance of schools and preschools. Principals are responsible for planning, monitoring, and continuously improving educational activities.

Our quality work focuses on meeting both national and municipal goals, complying with national requirements and guidelines, and striving for ongoing improvement.

Adult education

Skurup Municipality offers adult education for registered residents. The aim is to help adults strengthen their skills, boost self-confidence, and prepare for work or further studies – making it easier to participate fully in society. Adult education is located at Nils Holgerssongymnasiet.

You can study at the following levels:

• Basic level (elementary/junior high school)
• Senior high school level (distance learning)
• Special education for adults with intellectual disabilities
• Swedish for immigrants (SFI)

The Adult education also offers vocational programs:

• Professional Driver Training – Specialization in Freight Transport
  
• Health and Social Care
  

You’ll have access to an individual study plan tailored to your needs, allowing you to study at your own pace and combine learning with everyday life. We also provide study and career counselling as well as coaching.
