Care and support

If you need support in matters related to your family, drugs, or mental disability, you can turn to the Social Welfare Office for assistance and counselling. If you are an elderly person and need help with your daily chores, you can contact the Municipality and apply for home help services. Through the home health care, you can get help in your home with certain health care services.

Support for individuals and families

The Social Welfare Office gives support to children and young people as well as their families, and works with counselling including supportive measures for drug addicts and mentally disabled persons. The Social Welfare Office is also responsible for the administration of financial assistance.

Elderly care

Everyone should have the opportunity to stay on living in their own home under safe conditions. To make this possible, special assistance is sometimes needed, such as home help services, emergency medical alarm, meal delivery services, home health care, home modifications, etc.

If a person’s care needs can no longer be met at home, the municipality will provide a room for them in an elderly housing facility.

Home help services

Home help services are an important resource to achieve an independent living under safe conditions. These services are intended to be a support and a complement to a person’s own abilities and do not imply a takeover of duties and responsibilities.

Practical services include:

• help with household chores
• help with cleaning and washing
• help with shopping and other important errands

Care services refer to services that are designed to meet physical, psychological or social needs, for example:

• assisting with eating and drinking
• helping someone to get dressed and move around
• tending to personal care

Home health care

If you have difficulties visiting the district health centre, you can get help in your home with certain health care services.

The tasks include:

• handling medicines
• tending to wounds
• performing blood tests
• rehabilitation
• caring for terminally ill patients

The home health care services are administered 24–7 by municipal nurses, occupational therapists and physical therapists. We can visit you at all times during the day and night, regardless of where in the municipality you live.

Meal delivery services

If you are unable to cook for yourself, you can have a warm meal delivered to your house every day at lunchtime.

There are two alternative dishes on the menu on weekdays. You can also express other wishes, for example about:

• portion size
• dessert
• raw food
• extra nutrients
• special food
• pureed food

We offer you tasty, freshly cooked and nutritious food, which is brought to your home by the home help staff. Our goal is to make your meal a pleasant experience, thereby helping to promote good health and well-being.
