It is important for every child to get a good start in life. To achieve this, you need to create a stimulating learning environment where they get acknowledgement and encouragement. This will help them become independent and confident adults.

The schools and nursery schools have a common responsibility for creating good conditions that promote a lifelong learning process. The joy of learning together with a safe and nurturing learning environment are important incentives in the search for new knowledge.

It is our aim that the daily work of the nursery schools will be guided by these principles. In Skurup, there are both public and independent nursery schools as well as public family day care centres. Regardless of where in the municipality you live, there is a nursery school or family day care centre within convenient distance.

Sweden’s best nursery schools in 2004
In the year 2004, the Municipality of Skurup received an award by the Swedish Association of Preschool Teachers for having the best nursery schools in Sweden. The motivation read:

”The Municipality of Skurup is actively working to improve the health, progress and future of the children. The staff have an open and flexible approach, focusing on the needs of the children. For example, an extra breakfast is served to children that arrive early. The nursery schools have established a cooperation with the Child Welfare Centre, and in addition to this a target-oriented evaluation of the quality of the preschool activities is being made, addressing issues such as physical exercise, food and hygiene – a work that can serve as a model.”
